Location Yamba, North Coast, NSW.
Our much loved beach side studio in the beautiful coastal town of Yamba is sadly no more. We now have an amazing 150 year old heritage listed studio in an old convent on the banks of the Yarra River in Melbourne. These images show the old studio and the way we used to screen print the Zaishu slot seat / tables by hand, wearing bakers aprons and mixing up the inks with spatulas in cake mixing bowls. We have now joined the digital age for printing our work opening a world of possibilities such as photographic prints and multiple colours.
The printing station handmade from standard hardware store components.
Finishing the panels with water based non toxic varnish.
The mini Zaishu in flat pack form came packaged in a reusable calico draw string bag lovingly sewn by women at Threads a disability enterprise.
